This is probably my favorite image of Jolly to date. It just expresses such a rarely shown emotional side; usually being the voice of reason and control. Anyway! I'm excited to say that I'm writing up a nice history for Jolly that not only describes his origins, but also brings to light the decent into darkness of the Zebesian military as experienced by him.
Mannn I LOVE this design, the detailing to the face, particularly that mouth, is incredible! I love the detail to the muscle in the feet too. I like his name - and the fact that despite his monstrous appearance, he's usually a more stoic and reasonable type!
Thanks, Robo! =u= Jolly is my heart in monstrous form - I just love him to pieces. I'm just now FINALLY getting to colouring this image though; I can't believe it took me so long to tackle it. I'm glad you like his design! He is generally the much calmer, fatherly, figure; so I figure maybe somebody tried to hurt his son or something. Or it's just because I love drawing big open mouths with lots of teeth. >u>
That's awesome, I hope to see your color version in the near future! Sweet characters with more monstrous designs will always be a soft spot for me, lol!
Oh wow, he's brilliant. I love the detailing on his feeties. You're incredibly talented. I agree, he would look really cool with a background! Keep up the great work ;3
Thank you so much! Jolly is very special to me. He was the first zebesian I made and he's like a son to me. Haha, that's maybe kind of lame, but I love him a lot. He's older and slower than the younger zebesians, but damned if he doesn't have more heart than them all. Oh gosh, I just love his feet, haha. Monster feet are one of my favorite parts to draw. Feet, hands, mouths, arms, and necks. Just love em'. I still feel very much that I need to colour this image, as well finish images for the rest of the characters I've designed for this story that I can never seen to sit down and write. Well, maybe some day.
No, that makes sense- forming a sort of loyalty to a character is refreashing. I am a die hard gears of war fan, I had beign playign for years- so when Dom died in the last installment of the game, I actually cried. Tears were flowing from my eyes- hahahah I loved him! Well you're great at it :33 Oh no, writers block? or no time to do it! yeah, one day :33
It's true, you know? Since I was a kid, growing up in the 80's, I had a strong connection to Transformers, which was one of - if not my absolute - favorite series. Ratchet was always my favorite. When I watched him get gunned down in the 87' film, I was so devastated. I didn't even finish watching the film the first time after that. I don't think I finished watching it until a few months later. It just killed me to see him die - I didn't ever expect that he could. :C
To this day, he is still my favorite and he was such an inspiration to me growing up. It's to him, and a close brush with death, that I decided I wanted to be a Paramedic; and that's what I'm doing today, and I love it. C :
As for the story, it's a little of both of those things. Add in a dash of 'lack of proper effort' and that's that. X D
aww that's adorable. I understand what you mean fully. I have never stayed very long at one school- whenever i would come home from a day of meeting new people i always had crash bandicoot waiting for me you know? He, and Spyro were always there. They were my best friends for years and years. I would stay up as late as I could, being about 8 years old, i could only manage like 11pm. heheh but still- every moment with them I chereished. And even today, whenever anything at school or home is getting too much, i just curl up and play them for hours and hours on my playstation one.
wow man, a paramedic- that's fascinating. Good job, pal! Aww naaw, you could do it!
WHOA!! THAT IS SOOOOOO AWSOME !!Just look at all of those details!!!!O.o Okay one thing I got to say is that you seem to love space pirates!I love them, while every body hates them...They are my fav species! But my fav character will always be Rundas...I personally think that space pirates would like you,and you would like them!! though you would be like,uh,a dwarf no offense but they stand a good ten feet tall...Go to metroid.wikia.com and look around for space pirates you will find a ton of stuff about them ! Hope it helps!
I absolutely love space pirates. I have for years. They are the single most recurrent theme in nearly all of my artwork and I have learned so much from drawing them.
